My bff

My bff is having a friend party for her about to be 3 yr old, as yet unnicknamed. She then proceeded to tell me that she did not want anyone bringing gifts since he has too many toys. WTH!!! I told her I would divorce her if she did that. Inside joke.
See, the point of a birthday is to GET presents. I mean, weren't we all born with that right, that sense of entitlement?? rhetorical. But yes, if you have to answer, yes we were.
I finally convinced her that rather than divorce her she should see it from the attending parents' points of view. You see, I said in a forced calm voice trying to hide my outrage at her inSANE suggestion. Taking my littles to buy a gift just for the aforementioned doll baby of a child, would be so GOOD for them. Something really cool that they love, to GIVE AWAY!! Imagine that??
yeah, imagine the pain, the grief, the feined sadness and moaning "I wish it was MMMYYYYY birthday!! I want THAT for MY birthday" while I hold my breath dying to whisper scream "Christmas comes FIRST! Don't you KNOW that???"
Not bitter, just being real about the innate selfishness of children. In all honesty, I feel the same way. Like when my SIL is having a bday and I get her something I want for myself because we love the same things but then I have to give it away and then her parents get her all this cool stuff because well, we love the same things.
Sometimes at Christmas, she and I trade gifts that other family members have given us because well, we love the same things and often times we like what the other was given more. WE have even traded "prizes" others brought us from Europe! Gasp!!! I digress...
So, I lovingly convinced my bff to let us bring gifts for her not spoiled totally delicious will love a party and deserves the attention because she just had a baby precious child. And now I have to face shopping with my littles to instill the lesson I so convincingly convinved her of.
Hope it works...
