Where do I start to tell you how much I love Anthropologie. Just stepping in there makes me feel pure bliss. Akin to that feeling when you are holding your newborn baby for the first time, before the sleep deprivation sinks in. No seriously, as my cousin so aptly put it, something like it embodies all that is beautiful and romantic and cozy. She didn't say that EXACTLY but that is how stepping into one of their stores makes me feel.
If money were no object, I would shop there for everything, clothes, dishes, pj's, lotions and perfumes, bedding, children's clothes-oh wait, I have all boys, well, somebody else's children...need I go on? Oh housewares!! And the sale closet alone is fact and fantasy enough for me. I seriously scored stocking stuffers for the littles for $1.95 each. Little duckling footed egg cups meant for boiled eggs but who says they can't be filled with grapes or raisins or fruit snacks or sunflower seeds? And who says boys don't enjoy pretty? Don't say it to me!!
That place is whimsy and romance and love and joy and practical all mixed in one. It's ME! In store form!! Who thought of this place anyhow?? Every time they change their displays I think man, I missed my calling. Could I just spend like a month with their designer and see how his/her ideas come to be? They are so intriguing, often avantgarde without being weird.
I love everything I have ever bought from there more than I did that day I bought it.
Since I have been at weight watchers, anthropologie is where I reward myself for every milestone. Still wondering what to buy myself for the 30 pounds lost mark but I am thinking, and saving my pennies!!
TiaMia calls it the MarthaSpa, because I douse myself liberally and lotion up when I am in there too. More often than not, it is with perfume I already own. That is how much I love it.
I have been known to take the money set aside for a hair cut and spend it at anthro. Sorry Pearl.
It's true. I am obsessed and in love with all things anthropologie.
Can we talk about their aprons. Couple that with Martha's innate love for all things aprony and voila, there you have it. A match made in heaven. Have you been in my kitchen? Chances are, if you like the apron you see, it is from Anthro.
Another thing I love about this place is they have clothes and dishes and housewares from all different designers. There is not one "anthro" label but many different ones from all over the world. Sometimes the tag in the clothing or the imprint on the bottom of the bowl is as pretty as the item itself. Especially if it involves birds. Martha loves birds.
side note<><><>be watching for a post w/ pics on chickens. Live chickens!!
Not the kind of bird martha loves but they will do. For the school drive anyway.
Let's linger on latte bowls. Do you know what they are?? And the colors they come in? For people who measure their food, a small one holds 1/2 c and the large ones hold a hearty 2c which is great when you are dining on 2pt soup!! The colors are glorious. And when you stack them together, even better.
One day Pompey came home with a BIG bag from Anthro. I was SO happy because gifts are my love language. Love to get them. Love to give em. And in that bag were three anthro latte bowls. Props to my man who did not spend a fortune but filled my heart with joy at his thoughtfulness. Yes, anything from anthropologie makes me swoon.
Now, if only they carried red lipstick...
